Give an eye to your staff or not?

This question became more popular and popular. Computers entered our lives, now almost every office employee has a computer at the work, and most of people have computers at home.
If earlier, the employees simply skived off during the working time, read books, newspapers, or simply chat to extraneous topics. So now here we have computers and internet, where the employees waste their working hours.

A great number of people working at the computer, just simply do working time at office, but not working. Most of the office staff is working “on call” to the call, and the employer actually buys their work time.
The average office employee works about half a day, and all the rest of the time he is busy in his own private business or just doing nothing. Have you ever noticed how much time you waste visiting favorite sites? Or just chatting in the ICQ?

In such circumstances, an employer needs to know what exactly do employees – if they are simply “present” in the office, engaged in personal affairs, work, and may even carry out activities harmful to the employer.

Internal threats are coming from unscrupulous employees (in other words, insider). The real threats are inside one, which belong unfair workers, and these threats are manifested, as a rule, in the unauthorized dissemination, copying, deleting sensitive information - both in the form of files, and in another form.
The danger emanating from “insiders” can be fought in different ways.
The most extreme way - prohibit direct access to the Internet at the workplace, even when e-mail goes through secretaries. There are less drastic ways - tight traffic control at the Internet gateway and trapping all the information to external media, joining to the computer.

In general the problem is understandable!

Now let’s look at the different ways of employees tracking. I can underline 2 main of them:

Installing video in the office. This option is better suited for cases where the person does not work at the PC, but for the machine or in a store, etc., as it is impossible to catch him at the computer activity, but only in the presence of the office.

Installing the software on a PC for monitoring of the human action. Dramatically? Perhaps, but sometimes these methods justify themselves.

On the one hand is terribly unpleasant for the hired staff, feel that all the time you and your actions are under control. On the other hand it’s like an employer assistant. The fact that such program is on a computer will encourage employee.

Therefore, I would like to introduce you one of the software products designed to monitor the activities of employees. Choosing stopped on it because it has the largest set of technological capabilities.
Overall - StaffCop, with the help of which you can exactly see what the user on specific computer is busy in and to solve such problems.

The operating principle StaffCop is following: on computers being monitored, establishes a special program - tracking agent, which collects information. The agent can be visible to the user or hidden from him (it may be not visible in the process list, and almost impossible to catch if he is installed on the computer!).
Through panel administrator can view the data on user activity in real time, create statistical reports, as well as install and remove agents.

StaffCop tracks:

- the programs opening time and the working time with them;
- all web pages and web sites that have been visited;
- correspondence in ICQ, MSN, Mail.com agent, Yahoo Messenger - in addition to text messages you can see their addressees;
- the startup and shutdown;
- time connection and disconnection of any USB devices;
- all your keystrokes;
- all file operations (create, copy, delete);
- what programs have been established;
- what files are printed, and more over;

So, almost all are being watched!

Naturally, such system could not be absolutely demand in all organizations. First, many people do not agree to work in an organization where they are rigidly followed.
Secondly, many (especially men artists) “working” at the result, and nobody cares, how do they achieve their results. And, thirdly, the use of such systems in some cases contrary to the personnel policy organizations.

So, every employer must decide for themselves - whether is it worth to control the worker such way. And staff members stay alert! Suddenly you are being watching?:))
Interesting, what would be your reaction if you know that somebody watch you?!
